Zhu Yujun, a native of Shulan City, Jilin Province, was formerly a clerk in the Forestry Prosecution Division of the Shulan City People’s Procuratorate and a Falun Gong practitioner.

He began practicing Falun Gong in 1995. In December 1999, Zhu Yujun went to Beijing to peacefully petition on behalf of Falun Gong. He was sentenced to one year of re-education through labor, suspended from his job, and stripped of his position as a prosecutor. In October 2003, Zhu Yujun was arrested by police from the Shulan City Public Security Bureau, subjected to re-education through labor once again, and tortured relentlessly. In September 2015, Zhu Yujun was sentenced to 5 years by the Chanying District Court of Jilin City.

On June 5, 2024, Zhu Yujun was arrested by local police and detained at the Shulan Detention Center. It was later learned that the Shulan City Court had sentenced Zhu Yujun to 4 years, on unspecified charges, and on December 18, 2024, he was transferred to the Gongzhuling Prison Hospital. Sentence expires: June 4, 2028.
